Washington Township Public Library at 37 E. Springtown Road in Long Valley, N.J. (www.wtpl.org) will hold the following children’s programs and registrations during October 2010:

Book Buddies – September 21st through November 2nd(no meeting 10/12) – First and second graders practice your reading with a Big Buddy (volunteers in grades 5 and up). Every Tuesday for 7 weeks, from 4:30-5:00pm. Lots of fun, great volunteer opportunity! Please let Mrs. Birch know asap if you can join us.
Story Times: September 21st – November 4th
Mother Goose & Me: (up to 24 months): Thursdays @ 10am or 11am
Toddler Time: (ages 2-3): Tuesdays @ 10 am or 11am
Story Time : (ages 3-5 ): Wednesdays @ 10am or 1pm
We will have fun with stories, fingerplays, songs and more.
October 6th(Wednesday)
Evening Story Time @ 7:00pm – Family Story Time – Join Mrs. Averett for stories about Silly Monsters. No registration required.
October 9th(Saturday)
Family Story Time @ 11:00am – Join Mrs. Birch for stories celebrating National Pizza Month! No registration required.
Family Movie @ 1:00pm – Join us for a recently released DVD about a kid who learns karate (PG). Snacks included – parents stay with children. No registration required.
October 11th(Monday)
LEGO Club @ 4:00pm – Kids ages 5-11 yrs can come to build exciting creations. October’s theme is Haunted Houses. Space is limited – online registration begins 10/4. WT residents only.
October 12th(Tuesday)
Family Movie @ 1:00pm – Join us for the movie version of the children’s classic story of time travel by Madeleine L’Engle. We will also be discussing the book @ our Grade 5/6 Book Club on 10/25.
October 18th (Monday)
3-4 Book Club @ 4:00pm. Kids in grades 3 & 4 - Join us for the recently restructured group as we start a chapter book together – this month – The Spiderwick Chronicles – by Tony DiTerlizzi. Books for next month will be available at the meeting.
October 20th (Wednesday)
Afternoon Story Time @ 4:00pm – all ages welcome, no registration required. Join us for stories celebrating Halloween! No registration required.
October 22nd(Friday)
Krafternoon @ 4:00pm – Kids in grades K-3, join us to make a Halloween craft. Online registration begins 10/15.
October 24th(Sunday)
Magic, Myth, & Monsters @ 2:00pm – Family Program - A fun-filled, but not scary Halloween-themed Magic Show that children of all ages will enjoy! WT residents only – online sign-ups start 10/15.
October 25th(Monday)
5-6 Book Club @ 4:00pm -– Please talk to Mrs. Birch if interested. We will be discussing A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle. Books are available @ the library.
October 28th (Thursday)
Chess Club @ 7:00pm. All ages welcome – must know how to play. Please bring a board just in case.
SPECIAL SERIES: PARENTING WORKSHOPS
October 18th(Monday) @ 7:00pm – Vitina Krentz, MSW, child & family therapist & mother of four, presents Adventures in Parenting. Parents will learn how to get the kids to bed on time, how to talk so kids will listen, how to discipline without yelling and much more.
October 25th(Monday) @ 7:00pm – Eva Andor, Ph.D. & President of Boost Your Mind, presents a seminar, Boost your Mind for Kids, to help & inspire parents to spend time with their children featuring activities that are enjoyable, yet help in building cognitive skills, including focus & memory.
