WTPL May Children's Programs

Washington Township Public Library at 37 E. Springtown Road in Long Valley, N.J. (www.wtpl.org) will hold the following children’s programs and registrations during May 2011:

* Please note – Washington Twp residents are given priority for all programs that require sign-ups.*

Celebrate Children’s Book Week – May 2nd-6th @ WTPL!! It’s the Book-a-Day-Giveaway! We will be giving away one book a day, Monday through Friday, for each of three categories: grades PreK-2, grades 3-5, & grades 6 and up. Stop by to enter!

The National Library Week Bookmark Contest! Make sure to return your (one only please) bookmark by May 2nd, so the voting may begin. Voting will take place from May 6th -31st. Stop by to vote for your favorites! For more info stop by or check our website.

Book Buddies - Little Buddies(grades 1 & 2) practice reading to Big Buddies(grades 5 and up) – program runs through May 10th. For more info contact Mrs. Birch.

Spring Story Time - through May 12th
Mother Goose & Me: (up to 24 months): Thursdays @ 10am or 11am
Toddler Time: (ages 2-3): Tuesdays @ 10 am or 11am
Story Time : (ages 3-5 ): Wednesdays @ 10am or 1pm
We will have fun with stories, fingerplays, songs and more.

May 4th (Wednesday)
Evening Story Time @ 7:00pm – Family Story Time – Join Mrs. Averett for a Sporty Story Time - No registration required.

May 9th (Monday)
LEGO Club @ 4:00pm – Kids ages 5-11 yrs can come to build exciting creations.
WT residents only. Online sign ups start 5/2.

May 14th(Saturday)
Family Story Time @ 11:00am – Join Mrs. Birch for fun with stories & more – no registration required.
Family Movie @ 1:00pm – Join us as we watch a recently released DVD (rated PG) about a pair of bears that love to picnic. Snacks provided, parents stay with children, no registration required.

May 18th (Wednesday)
Morris County Park Commission presents Birds on the Nest @ 4:00pm – Grades 2-5. In an up close investigation of real bird's nests, kids make their own scientific discoveries by observing and collecting data. Online registration begins 5/4.

May 16th(Monday)
3-4 Book Club @ 4:00pm. Kids in grades 3 & 4 - Join us as we discuss The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin – an award winning mystery. We will also start our next chapter book.. Books & snacks will be available at the meeting. Please contact Mrs. Birch if interested.

May 23rd(Monday)
5-6 Book Club @ 4:00pm – Join us to discuss Pictures of Hollis Woods by Patricia Reilly Giff. Snacks available. Pick up a book at the library. For more info contact Mrs. Birch.

May 24th & May 31st (Tuesday)
Read to Rover @ 4:00pm – Beginning readers, join our friendly therapy dogs & their trainers to practice reading. REAL dogs! Please contact Mrs. Birch to schedule a time slot.

May 25th (Wednesday)
Afternoon Story Time @ 4:00pm – all ages welcome. Join us for stories about Books & Libraries – Celebrate National Library Week! No registration required.

May 26th(Thursday)
Chess Club @ 7:00pm. All ages welcome – must be able to play. Bring a board just in case – no registration required.
