
The Traveling Stage Company presents “Ethel Merman – Her Music and Her Life” on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Twp. Public Library, 37 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ.A light luncheon will follow the performance This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Washington Twp. Public Library.
This one-woman show will feature live performances of many of Ms. Merman’s famous songs as well as stories about her life. Young Ethel began singing for the troops in New York. She supported her night club and café appearances by working as a secretary during the day. Ethel Merman was one of the true Grande Dames of Broadway and Film Musicals. She starred in such hits as “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Anything Goes,” and “Call Me Madam.” This is one of the most entertaining shows the Traveling Stage Company has produced. With a voice that never needed amplification and a delivery of songs that had all the famous composers of her day clamoring for her attention, Ethel Merman emerged onto the Broadway stage to become one of its greatest stars.
