WTPL May Children's Programs

Washington Township Public Library at 37 E. Springtown Road in Long Valley, N.J. (www.wtpl.org) will hold the following children’s programs and registrations during May 2010:

*Please note – Washington Twp residents are given priority for all programs that require sign-ups.*

Attention – Book Buddies last day May 18th – Little Buddies(grades 1& 2) will practice reading to Big Buddies(grades 5 and up) – all Buddies – please sign up with Mrs. Birch as soon as possible.

Story Times: March 23 – May 20
Mother Goose & Me: (up to 24 months): Thursdays @ 10am or 11am
Toddler Time: (ages 2-3): Tuesdays @ 10 am, 11am
Story Time : (ages 3-5 ): Wednesdays @ 10am or 1pm
We will have fun with stories, fingerplays, songs and more.

The National Library Week Bookmark Contest - last day to hand in your bookmark is May 1st - Stop by starting May 5th to vote for your favorites! (Winners will be notified by phone the first week of June). Voting continues til May 31st. All participants are invited to the Bookmark Contest Reception Wednesday, June 9th @ 4:30pm for light refreshments, certificate presentation and photo opportunities. May 1st (Saturday)
Family Story Time @ 11am – Join Mrs. Birch for some Monkey Business: Stories about monkies.
Family Movie @ 1:00pm - Join us in watching recently released Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey (G) – parents must remain with children. Snacks provided, no registration required.

May 5th (Wednesday)
Family Story Time @ 7:00pm – Join Mrs. Averett for Happy Birthday, Leo Lionni! – stories by a favorite children’s book author. No registration required.

Enter our Book-a-day Giveaway!
Monday through Friday – we will be giving away a book a day in each of three categories: Grades PreK-2, Grades 3-5, & Grades 6 and up. Just fill out an entry form for your age group and drop it in the box. Winners will be notified by phone. Different books every day!

May 10th (Monday)
LEGO Club @ 4:00pm – Kids ages 5-11 yrs can come to build exciting creations.
Space is limited – online registration begins 5/3. WT residents only.

May 12th(Wednesday)
Sunflower Power @ 4:30pm – Grades K-3. Join Terry Holman, President of the LV Garden Club, to learn all about and plant your own sunflowers! Space is limited, online registration starts 5/5.

May 19th (Wednesday)
Afternoon Story Time @ 4:00pm – all ages are welcome for Books about Bikes: National Bike Month. No registration required.

May 20th (Thursday)
PIP (Pretty Important People) Club @ 4:00pm - Kids in grades 1-4, join us as we hear stories and learn about Pretty Important People – May PIP = Marco Polo. Please register using our online calendar.

May 23rd(Sunday)
Mammal Mania presented by Eyes of the Wild @ 2:00pm – Family Program – Join us to learn about amazing mammals from around the world – live animals. Limited space – online registration begins 5/10. WT residents have priority.

May 27th (Thursday)
Chess Club @ 7:00pm. All ages welcome – must know how to play - play for prizes!. Please bring a board just in case.
