Germany: Maritime Cities of the North

Germany: Maritime Cities of the North talk at the Washington Twp. Public Library, 37 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Our photographic journey today with Audrey Boise, tour guide, will take us across northern Germany. Our first stop will be in Bremen, the only German port on the North Sea. From there we’ll head north through some of the countryside to Hamburg, the largest port in the country. Continuing north, we’ll see the very important Kiel Canal which connects the North Sea to the Baltic.

Next, we’ll turn south to the Hanseatic League capital of Lubeck before turning east to visit Warnermunde and Rostock, the only significant sea outlet during the East German years.

After the destruction of World War II, what are these cities like today? Come visit a less traveled area of Germany!
