Washington Twp Public Library October Children's Programs

Washington Township Public Library at 37 E. Springtown Road in Long Valley, N.J. (www.wtpl.org) will hold the following children’s programs and registrations during October  2011:

* Please note – Washington Twp residents are given priority for all programs that require sign-ups.*

Fall  Story Time  - September 13th through November 3^rd

Mother Goose & Me: (up to 24 months): Thursdays @ 10am or 11am

Toddler Time:  (ages 2-3): Tuesdays @ 10 am or 11am

Story Time : (ages 3-5 ): Wednesdays @ 10am or 1pm

We will have fun with stories, fingerplays, songs and more – no registration required.

Book Buddies – kids in grades 1 & 2 practice reading to Big Buddies (grades 5 and up) – GREAT volunteer opportunity!!  October 4^th through November 8^th, from 4:30-5:00pm.  Please sign up with Mrs. Birch asap.

October 10th (Monday)

LEGO Club @ 4:00pm – Kids ages 5-11 yrs can come to build exciting creations.
WT residents only.  Online sign ups start 10/3.

October 10^th (Monday)

Bat Education @ 2:00pm - Join Jackie from the New Jersey Bat Sanctuary to learn about these wonderful, shy and super beneficial animal. See NJ's most common bat, the Big Brown, up close and personal.  Ages 5 and up, register online starting 10/3.

October 14^th (Friday)

Passport Pals @ 10:00am - Join Mrs. Birch to learn about another country - short film, story & activity.  Please register online starting 10/1 so that we know how many will be attending.

October 17^th (Monday)

3-4 Book Club @ 4:00pm.  Kids in grades 3 & 4 - Join us as we discuss Pure Dead Magic by Debi Gliori – a perfect book for the season!  We will also start our next chapter book. Books & snacks will be available at the meeting.  Please contact Mrs. Birch if interested.

October 18^th (Tuesday)

Camp Half-Blood Workshop @ 7:00pm - Grades 3-5: Calling all demi-gods and Percy Jackson fans! Come on a journey into the world of Greek Mythology at this Camp Half Blood Workshop. Discover which Greek God you are aligned with, listen to myths, create a Percy Jackson inspired project and more!  WT residents only – please register online starting 10/11.

October 19^th (Wednesday)

Afternoon Story Time @ 4:00pm – All ages. Join us for stories of the season & more.  No registration required.

October 20^th (Thursday)

Comic/Manga Art @ 6:00pm  – grades 3-5.  Learn to draw and create Comic/ Manga characters with Maximo.  WT residents please register online starting 10/13.

October 21^st (Friday)

Halloween Bingo @ 4:00pm – ages 5 and up, no registration required. Everyone is a winner!

October  24th(Monday)

Book Buzz  Book @ 4:00pm –  * NOW for grades 5-8.  Join us to discuss The Old Willis Place by Mary Downing Hahn.  Snacks available.  Pick up a book at the library.  For more info contact Mrs. Birch.

October 24^th(Monday)

Piccirrillo Sciencetelling presents: Potions! @ 7:00pm – ages 5 and up - Join us as we learn about the concept of matter, its three states and how to change it from one to another by telling the tale of a building called Doolittle. Discover the secrets of this hidden laboratory, perform narrow escapes, witness surprising discoveries, and reveal an unbelievable ending. With screaming quarters, jets of gas to taste, popping potions, incredible showers of smoke-filled bubbles, and buckets of fog, discover how all of this is created by the two *coolest* things in the world... October 26^th (Wednesday)

Kids Kraft @ 4:00pm – Kids in grades K-2, join us for a fun Halloween craft!  Please register online starting 10/19.

October  27^th (Thursday)

Chess Club @ 7:00pm.  All ages welcome – must be able to play. Play for prizes.  Bring a board just in case – no registration required.
